While I agree that this is terrible that this little girl had to go through this but the other side of this story was never mentioned. If there is a suicide bomber that is trying to get on that plane, do you think that he wouldn't resort to using a little girl as a bomb carrier? He obviously has no regard for human life, why would this little girl be any different? Do you think that a drug smuggler would not resort to using this little girl to get narcotics onto this plane? When people have no regard for human life, they don't think like we do.
When my unit was in Iraq, insurgents were using little kids to plant roadside bombs, they would use them to signal where American troops are so they could be attacked, and they would use them as suicide bombers. They especially use teenage to adult girls because they know that we can't search them like we can a man. So, it is easier to hide a suicide vest. I can't imagine the TSA agent enjoyed doing this and I'm sure she thought it was wrong. Just the same as the Americans soldiers (and yes this has happened more than once) who have had to shoot a little kid before that kid was used to kill soldiers.
But, I also don't think this was something the TSA dreamed up. I'm sure this goes back to something we Americans have never seen where an insurgent was trying to use a little kid for a suicide bomb (or drug mule) on a plane.
To try to put some kind of positive spin on this tragic event (and I'm not justifying that this was right, just trying to show there's more to the story), with the speed of the internet insurgents will now know that TSA searches even little kids and this one unfortunate incident could save lives.
I'm sure people don't want to hear what I've said but, it's my opinion. I am a disabled vet in a wheelchair and have been searched beyond what I would call appropriate, when I was traveling with a group of disabled vets being escorted by a TSA agent! Yet, I did not complain. People want to be kept safe but when the government tries to do that, they complain because of their "rights".
How many people that lost a mom, dad, son, daughter in the twin towers, pentagon, or in that field in Pennslyvania wish they would have had tighter TSA resrictions 10 years ago?

I'm with you Tom...I'm just convinced there has to be a better way of searching kids. Search me that way if you have to, just find a better way to search my girls...
